About Argenta CDC

Argenta Community Development Corporation Argenta CDC is a private non-profit 501(c)(3) organization formed in 1992 by downtown North Little Rock property owners determined to reverse the crime and neglected housing that threatened to destroy their neighborhoods.

The mission of Argenta CDC is to improve the economic vitality, quality of life and sense of community in targeted neighborhoods through the development of quality housing, the promotion of homeownership and the stimulation of economic growth.

Achievements in Neighborhood Revitalization

Argenta CDC’s housing rehabilitation program has significantly improved the safety and integrity of the downtown target area — more than 90 neglected or dilapidated properties have passed through our hands. The neighborhood of Argenta was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1993. Crime rates in the area are now among the lowest citywide, and real estate values have soared. With more than $12,000,000 invested in property improvements, Argenta CDC is recognized as a leader among community development organizations nationwide.

Dowtown ArgentaHistoric Preservation

Argenta CDC has renovated more than 65 homes and buildings in downtown North Little Rock, including two prominent properties on Main Street. Historic homes that many said could not be saved have been fully restored. Argenta CDC’s comprehensive approach to revitalization has helped rebuild a community where neighbors know one another by name and take pride in their storefronts and homes. Argenta CDC is one of 16 programs in the US chosen by the National Trust for Historic Preservation to receive a 2002 National Honor Award.

Affordable Housing

Over half of the properties redeveloped by Argenta CDC are single-family homes renovated for resale to first-time homebuyers. Rehabilitation funds provided by HUD through the City of North Little Rock help make CDC homes affordable to families of low-to-moderate income. Argenta CDC owns eighty-seven units of rental property located in and around the Argenta Historic District. Completed in 2002, the Argenta Square apartment complex represents the largest new residential construction project downtown in 25 years.
